Rearcross 'A' 1 - Holycross 2

The curtain came down on a very successful thirty four match season for Rearcross 'A' last Sunday with a 2-1 defeat by Holycross in the semi-final of the Tipperary Cup. Rearcross 'A' who were forced to field without five players from the Barry Cup and Shield winning teams attacked from the kick off with a Micheal O'Doherty effort not far off target. Holycross went one nil ahead in the 8th minute with a headed goal from outside the six yard box, Rearcross were back on level terms two minutes later when Thomas Kennedy scored a free kick from the edge of the eighteen yard box. Rearcross were dealt a further blow in the 40th minute when Holycross went 2-1 ahead when the ball was finished to the net from close range. Problems were further compounded early in the second half with Derek O'Toole and Liam Caplis having to retire from the fray with leg injuries, however Rearcross did enjoy the greater share of possession but were unable to breach the Holycross defence. It was unfortunate that Rearcross 'A' were forced to field an understrength strength team for this semi-final fixture as victory would have set up a glamour Tipperay Cup final against neighbours Kilcommon. We would like to congratulate Kilcommon on their Second Division League Title win and wish them the very best of luck in the Tipperary Cup Final on this Sunday.
