Rearcross 'A' 0 - Blackcastle 'A' 5

Rearcross 'A' suffered a heavy defeat by Blackcastle 'A' last Sunday in the first round of the Munster Junior Cup on a five goals to nil score line. The signs were ominous for the home side when Blackcastle took the lead in the second minute after David Burke broke through the centre and finished superbly from the edge of the eighteen-yard box. James McCarthy made it two nil on 25 minutes when he jumped highest to head the corner of the net. Rearcross were somewhat unlucky not to pull a goal back in the 32nd minute when Micheal O'Doherty was quick to close in on the visitors keeper, however the rebounded effort was just wide. Blackcastle continued their dominance in the second half and increased the lead in the 57th minute when Larry Stapleton reacted quickly to slot home from close range. Rearcross were further in arears in the 65th minute when Johnny Doran's effort was deflected to the Rearcross net. Larry Stapleton scored his second and Blackcastle's fifth in the 78th minute when he converted from the penalty spot.
