Arra Rovers 2 - Rearcross 'A' 3
Rearcross 'A' travelled to Portroe last Sunday for this premier division league fixture against Arra Rovers and recorded a well-merited 3-2 victory. Rearcross enjoyed the better of the early exchanges and went ahead in the 19th minute when Ger Kennedy finished to the net from the edge of the box after a good move involving Sean Kennedy and Martin McLoughlin. Rearcross failed to capitalise on this lead and let Arra Rovers in for an equaliser eight minutes before half time. The opening period of the second half was completely dominated by Arra Rovers and the signs were ominous for the visitors when Arra took the lead early in the half with a fine strike from the left flank. Rearcross had to dig deep to stay in the game and were rewarded for their efforts midway through the half when Thomas Kennedy was taken down in the penalty area, with Emmet Steed slotting home the resulting penalty to level the affair. Rearcross pressed forward in search of the winner and sealed the victory in the 86th minute when Ger Kennedy scored his second of the day from close range after good work by Thomas Kennedy on the edge of the box.
