Ardcroney 'A' 1 - Rearcross 'A' 2

Rearcross 'A' had to battle all the way to collect maximum points on a 2-1 scoreline against Ardcroney 'A' in a Premier Division league game played in Ardcroney last Sunday, Rearcross created the early openings with a Joey Nolan effort not far off the target on 14 minutes and Emmet Steed coming close in the 19th minute with a well struck shot from the left flank. Rearcross should have enjoyed a half time advantage, however fine goalkeeping towards the end of the first half by Ardcroney's John Murphy kept the scoreline intact. Rearcross again dominated at the start of the second half and should have taken the lead in the 57th minute from the penalty spot. Ardcroney reacted well and went ahead in the 60th minute when Mike Cleary broke through the centre and rifled to the roof of the net from the edge of the six yard box. Rearcross facing their second successive league defeat had to dig deep and were rewarded in the 75th minute when Thomas Rainsford drove the ball to the back of the net to level the scoreline. Rearcross pushed forward in search of a deserved winner and sealed the victory in the 89th minute when Thomas Rainsford scored his second with a splendid strike from just inside the eighteen yard box.
