Streamstown 2 - Rearcross 'A' 3

Rearcross 'A' advanced to the quarter final stages of the Tipperary Cup last Sunday when they overcame Streamstown on a 3-2 scoreline after extra time at the Roscrea venue. Streamstown took the lead after nine minutes when John Hogan was on hand to finish to net from inside the eighteen yard box after some sloppy defending by the visitors. Rearcross playing with wind advantage enjoyed most of the possession but had to wait until the 37th minute for the equaliser when Derek O'Toole broke on the right and slotted home from an acute angle. Rearcross went ahead for the first time in the 53rd minute when Thomas Kennedy hit the target with a left footed drive that left the Steamstown keeper with no chance. Streamstown were back in the game seven minutes later when a free kick from the right flank was headed to the net by the unmarked Alan Lynch. Rearcross sealed the victory with two minutes remaining in the second period of extra time when Darren Malone scored with a splendid strike from the edge of the box.
