Blackcastle 'A' 1 - Rearcross 'A' 1 (Blackcastle won 5-4 on penalties)

Rearcross 'A' bowed out of the Premier Division shield against Blackcastle 'A' in Templemore yesterday after a penalty shoot out. Rearcross enjoyed the better of the early exchanges, however Blackcastle went ahead in the 13th minute when James Ryan slotted home from an acute angle, Rearcross recovered quickly when Emmet Steed fired to the roof of the net from outside the box in the 16th minute with a well taken goal. Rearcross dominated for the remainder of the half and were somewhat unlucky not to be ahead at the half time whistle with Emmet Steed coming closest to the target on 29 minutes. Blackcastle got on top at the beginning of the second half with Rearcross having to soak twenty minutes of pressure and were fortunate in the 68th minute when a Blackcastle effort rebounded off the upright. The sides were deadlocked at the final whistle with the resulting extra time failing to produce a winner, Blackcastle booked their semi-final placing on a 5-4 scoreline after a penalty shootout with John Ryan(L), Martin McLoughlin, Derek O'Toole and Emmet Steed converting the Rearcross penalties.
