Thurles Town 'A' 0 - Rearcross 'A' 3
Rearcross 'A's visit to the Greyhound Stadium in Thurles last Sunday morning
proved worthwhile with a deserved three nil victory over Thurles Town 'A'.
A somewhat sluggish first half performance by Rearcross went unpunished
as the visitors went in at the half time break with a one goal advantage
after Declan O'Toole scored on 19 minutes when he finished from close range
after good play by Martin McLoughlin in the middle of the field. Some changes
in the Rearcross side at the half way stage had the desired effect and Rearcross
were two nil ahead eight minutes in to the second half when a fine move
involving Adrian Hurley, Val Kennedy and Paul Murphy found Derek O'Toole
in space who blasted to the back of the net from twelve yards. Rearcross
dictated the pace for the remainder of the game and raced in to a three
nil lead in the 64th minute when Joey Nolan broke through the centre and
rifled past the Thurles keeper from the edge of the eighteen yard box. Thurles
Town kept battling and had claims for a penalty turned down four minutes
later. Liam Nolan was unlucky not to notch up goal number four for Rearcross
when his strike from in front of goal came back off the upright with ten
minutes remaining.
