Rearcross 'A' 3 - Nenagh 'A' 1

Rearcross 'A' powered their way to a deserved 3-1 victory over Nenagh Town 'A' in a Premier Division league clash played in Rearcross last Sunday afternoon. Rearcross playing against the wind in the opening half signalled their intent early on when Joe O'Brien forced a good save out of the Nenagh keeper with a a shot from the right wing. Nenagh came close midway through the half when Ken Hall evaded two tackles and struck with force from the inside the eighteen yard box, however the ball skimmed the outside of the upright. Ken Hall threatened again on 26 minutes when he found space on the left to shoot from a tight angle, this time the ball was deflected out for a corner kick. Rearcross went ahead in the 30th minute when Emmet Steed finished to the net after good work by Adrian Hurley. Nenagh made a good start to the second half, but were unable to breach the Rearcross rearguard with John Ryan Luke and Martin McLoughlin to the fore. Rearcross were given some breathing space in the 55th minute when a good move set up Derek O'Toole who made no mistake from in front of goal. Nenagh then came at Rearcross in droves, however some stout defending by Rearcross managed to keep the visitors at bay until the 78th minute when Trevor Morrissey knocked the ball over the line after a goalmouth skirmish. Rearcross made sure of the points with three minutes remaining when Derek O'Toole broke on the right and booted to the net from twenty yards to give him his eleventh strike of the season.
