Rearcross 'B' 0 - Thurles Town 'B' 4

Thurles Town 'B' emerged from this Shield semi-final fixture played in Rearcross last Sunday afternoon on a four nil score line, however the margin of the victory does not do justice to the performance turned in by a Rearcross side who created more than their fair share of chances. Rearcross were let off the hook in the 5th minute when a penalty awarded for a handball was over the crossbar. Thurles Town took a one nil lead in the 9th minute when William Carroll got on the end of a through ball and headed to the corner of the net. Rearcross were the more dominant side for the remainder of the half with Nigel Ryan and Liam Ryan causing problems for the Thurles Town rearguard. The home side's claim for a handball midway through the half went unheard. Rearcross were on top again at the beginning of the second half, Paudie Devitt's effort from the edge of the eighteen yard box was just wide of the upright five minutes in to the half, while the Thurles keeper was well positioned to block Liam Ryan's effort in the 54th minute, a great sole run by John Berkery up the left flank on 63 minutes produced a well delivered pass in to the centre, however the ball was cleared to avert the danger, a goal at this stage would surely have set Rearcross on the road to victory, however this was not to be as Thurles Town grabbed a second in the 70th minute against the run of play when William Carroll headed to the net from the edge of the six yard box. Rearcross deteriorated after this setback as Thurles ran out easy winners, Brian Cleary made it three nil in the 83rd minute when he powered the ball to the net from a cross on the right wing. Brian Cleary tacked on goal number four with three minutes remaining with a fine strike from in front of goal.
