Moneygall 'A' 1 - Rearcross 'A' 4

Rearcross 'A's trip to Barna proved worthwhile last Sunday with a merited 4-1 league victory over Moneygall. The opening exchanges were evenly shared, Joey Nolan forced a good save out of Moneygall's Ollie Larkin in the 4th minute. Sean McCormack was a threat up front for Moneygall and came close in the 9th minute. Moneygall took the lead in the 12th minute when Sean McCormack jumped highest and headed a well delivered free kick to the corner of the net from inside the eighteen yard box, Rearcross were back on level terms fourteen minutes later when Derek O'Toole finished to the back of the net from ten yards after a period of sustained pressure on the Moneygall goals that saw Ollie Larkin to the fore. Rearcross were denied the lead in the 35th minute when Darren Malone's headed effort from a corner kick hit the underside of the crossbar and appeared to be over the line, however the score was not registered. Rearcross got off to an ideal start in the second half when Paul Murphy broke on the left and sliced the ball past the Moneygall custodian a minute after the restart. Rearcross never looked back after this and went 3-1 ahead in the 72nd minute when Derek O'Toole was well positioned to drive the ball home from close range to give him his ninth strike of the season. Second half substitute PJ McLoughlin copper fastened the victory in the 90th minute with a finish at the back post to give Rearcross 'A' their fifth league win of the season.
