Rearcross
'A' 0 - Nenagh Town 'A' 2
Rearcross 'A' made their exit from the Tipperary Cup against Nenagh Town 'A'
last Sunday in Rearcross, a goal in either half was enough to give Nenagh
a quarter final placing against a Rearcross team that turned in a poor performance
on the day. Darren O'Gorman gave Nenagh the lead in the 15th minute when he
finished ball to the net from a corner kick. Oliver Kennedy saved well from
a Paul Maher header midway through the half to keep the scoreline intact.
Paul Maher put Nenagh two nil ahead in the 62nd minute when he broke on the
left and shot to the back of the net. Rearcross might have scored in the 68th
minute when Emmet Steed released Derek O'Toole who had taken up a threatening
position, however the referee called play back in what was surely a marginal
decision. Emmet Steed was unlucky not to pull a goal back in the 80th minute
when his well struck shot from an acute angle was just wide of the target.
Nenagh stuck to their task well for the remaining minutes to secure the victory.
