Nenagh 'A' 1 - Rearcross 'A' 0

Rearcross 'A' travelled to Islandbawn last Sunday for this vital league encounter against Nenagh 'A' and were disappointingly beaten on a one nil scoreline, Nenagh signalled their intent right from the kick off and forced a good save out of Oliver Kennedy in the 9th minute with a shot from the edge the eighteen yard box. Rearcross who were hoping to record their third successive league victory over Nenagh also threatened in the early stages and came close in the 14th minute when Derek O'Toole broke on the left and struck a left legged drive that was just over the top. The scoreline was kept intact a minute later when Paul Maher's headed effort was wide of the target, while the crossbar saved Rearcross in the 17th minute when the ball rebounded back in to play and was subsequently cleared to safety. Rearcross keeper Oliver Kennedy who turned in a man of the match performance saved superbly in the 24th minute when he reacted to tap a headed effort over the crossbar. Oliver Kennedy again came to the rescue in the 3rd minute of the second half when he saved well from a Trevor Morrissey shot. Nenagh grabbed the all important goal in the 62nd minute when a twenty yard free kick by Trevor Morrissey rebounded off the crossbar to a well positioned Tommy Lynch who made no mistake with a headed goal, Rearcross battled to get back in to the game but failed to penetrate a well organised Nenagh defence.
