Rearcross 'A' 2 - Clodiagh Rangers 'A' 0
Rearcross 'A' were victorious over Clodiagh Rangers 'A' on a two nil scoreline
in a league fixture played last Sunday afternoon in Bilboa. Clodiagh Rangers
did the early attacking with former Tipperary stalwart Declan Carr causing
problems for Rearcross in the middle of the park with his aerial dominance,
however the visitors failed to open their account despite this early dominance
and paid the price as Rearcross came in to the game as the half progressed.
The woodwork denied Rearcross in the 16th minute when Derek O'Toole's effort
from inside the eighteen yard rebounded off the crossbar and out to safety.
Rearcross took the lead in the 23rd minute when Ger Kennedy finished Emmet
Steed's corner kick to the net. Rearcross enjoyed the better of the early
exchanges in the second half and went two nil ahead midway through the half
when Derek O'Toole broke through the centre and rifled a shot which was well
parried by Tom Quinlan in the Clodiagh goals, however Ger Kennedy was on hand
to finish from close range. Rearcross had to survive a Clodiagh revival towards
the end of the game with Oliver Kennedy saving well from a Philip O'Dwyer
strike in the 81st minute while Brendan Deegan cleared off the line when a
goal looked certain in the 85th minute. Well done to stand in Manager Brendan
O'Brien who contribution was reflected in the final scoreline.
