Rearcross 'A' 2- Arra Rovers 4

Rearcross 'A's recent good run in the league came to an end last Sunday with a 4-2 defeat by Arra Rovers, Rearcross made a bright start to the game and with a bit of luck could have been out of sight at the half way mark. Emmet Steed put Rearcross ahead in the 5th minute when he rifled to the roof of the net from close range following good work by Thomas Kennedy. The woodwork denied Rearcross a second two goal minutes later when Emmet Steed's shot shook the crossbar. A well timed tacked by John Ryan(L) denied Arra a scoring chance in the 28th minute. Arra were let of the hook in the 29th minute when Thomas Kennedy's penalty was wide of the post. Arra levelled in the 33rd minute when hesitancy in the Rearcross defence allowed Anthony Kennedy to score from close range. Rearcross were back in front in the 40th minute when Emmet Steed met John Ryan's cross to head home a fine goal. Rearcross struggled in the second half against a determined Arra outfit and looked as if they might hold out for victory, however a hattrick of goals in the final nine minutes sealed the win for the visitors, the first of the goals came in the 81st minute when Anthony Kennedy found space on the left to blast to the back of the net. Anthony Freeman gave Arra the lead in the 85th minute when he got on the end of a corner kick. Shane Kennedy completed the scoring in the 89th minute when he broke the centre and scored from the edge of the eighteen-yard box.
