Rearcross 'B' 5 - Blackcastle 'B' 1
Rearcross 'B' had an emphatic 5-1 win against Blackcastle reserves in a league
fixture played in Bilboa last Sunday. Rearcross looked comfortable throughout
and went one nil ahead after nine minutes when Liam Ryan's effort went under
the advancing keeper and rolled over the goal line. Liam Ryan grabbed a second
with a powerful shot that crashed to the bottom left hand corner midway through
the half. Anthony Ryan maintained the Rearcross lead when he rushed off his
line late in the half and saved when a goal looked certain. Trevor Delahunty
restored the lead for Rearcross when he struck the target in the 75th minute
after good work by Theo English and Denis Kennedy. The Templemore side scored
what proved to be a consolation goal minutes later when the ball found it's
way to the net after a clash between Anthony Ryan and an in rushing attacker.
Rearcross ran out easy victors and tacked on two more goals, the first coming
from the boot of Nigel Ryan on 81 minutes after good support from Liam Ryan
and Davy O'Toole. The victory was put beyond doubt with three minutes remaining
when Liam Ryan drilled the ball down the wing to Davy O'Toole who swung in
the cross to the in form Trevor Delahunty who put the ball past the Blackcastle
keeper from inside the eighteen yard box.
