Nenagh Town 'A' 0 - Rearcross 'A' 1

Rearcross 'A' had to battle all the way to book their place in the Premier Division Shield semi-final in Islandbawn last Wednesday evening, a Nenagh move in the 4th minute had the Rearcross rearguard at sixes as Trevor Morrissey's shot veered to the left of the upright, Oliver Kennedy gathered a Nenagh free kick a minute later, the storm abated and Rearcross were starting to gain territorial advantage, a free kick awarded on the left in the tentth minute was floated in to PJ McLoughlin who leaped highest to make contact, however the headed effort came back of the effort, PJ McLoughlin was again first to the ball and sliced to the net from close range. Emmet Steed got in a shot two minutes later, however the ball pulled over the bar. Nenagh's Tommy Lynch made space in the 23rd minute after a goalmouth skirmish, luck was with the visitors as the ball skewed off the outside of his boot and over the endline. The opening exchanges of the second half were hard and fair, however Nenagh were starting to get the edge and were dominant for large spells of the half but failed to break down a stubborn Rearcross side who fought tooth and nail to hold on to their slender lead, Nenagh will rue missed opportunities towards the end of the game, however it was Rearcross who prevailed and advanced to the last four of the competition.
