Rearcross 'A' 1 - Nenagh Celtic 'A' 4
Rearcross 'A' were at home to Nenagh Celtic 'A' last Sunday
afternoon and were on the receiving end of a 4-1 league defeat, Rearcross
were slow to get in to the game and allowed the visitors take a one nil lead
in the 14th minute when Jason Kennedy met a corner kick first time and drilled
to the net from the edge of the six yard box. John Donnellan made it two nil
midway through the half when he knocked over the goal line after a goalmouth
skirmish that saw Oliver Kennedy sustain a finger injury that finished his
participation in the game. Rearcross regrouped and matched the Nenagh side
for long spells after this setback, Liam O'Toole was robbed when his effort
from the right in the 55th minute struck the crossbar, a goal at that stage
would have put Rearcross right back in to the game, however it was Celtic
who got the break in the 79th minute when Steve Ryan blasted to the net from
the penalty spot. Aurthur Mitchell made it four nil four minutes later when
he jumped highest and headed accurately inside the upright. Sean Kennedy grabbed
a consolation goal for Rearcross with two minutes remaining when he shot through
a crowded goalmouth from just inside the eighteen yard box. A speedy recovery
to Oliver Kennedy.
