Rearcross 'B' 3 - Blackcastle 'B' 2

Rearcross 'B' turned in a fine performance last Sunday morning in Rearcross to topple league leaders Blackcastle on a 3-2 scoreline, Rearcross made the better start and went ahead in the 6th minute with a clinical finish from Nigel Ryan. A quickely taken free kick in the 13th minute resulted in a well worked move that found Eamon Devitt in space, however the Templemore keeper was well positioned to save. Rearcross increased their advantage on 25 minutes when Liam Ryan released Nigel Ryan on the right who raced through and side footed the ball to the corner of the net. Trevor Delahunty made it three nil in the 31st minute when he got on the end of an Eamon Devitt cross and headed home from the edge of the six yard box. A lapse in concentration by the home side just before half time allowed Paul Toohey to convert with a headed goal from a corner kick. The deficit was further reduced in the 70th minute when an own goal gave a Blackcastle a lifeline, Rearcross were forced to defend in numbers for the remainder of the game and had to endure a few anxious moments towards the end with goal keeper Simon Kennedy to the fore before the referee sounded the final whistle and victory was secured for Rearcross.
