Blackcastle 'A' 2 - Rearcross 'A' 0

Rearcross 'A's trek to Templemore was in vain again last Sunday as two goals in a five minute spell at the midway stage gave the points to Blackcastle 'A'. The home side attacked from the kick off and won two corners inside the first minute. Rearcross reorganised and were denied in the 8th minute when PJ McLoughlin's strike was blocked by the Blackcastle netminder, Rearcross were holding their own at this stage with Joe O'Brien's shot in the 14th minute not far off the mark. Paul Murphy's first time hit in the 17th minute pulled away from the upright, Rearcross had claims for a penalty dismissed in the 22nd minute when Paul Murphy appeared to have been fouled in the box. Blackcastle were dominant towards the end of the half and grabbed the lead in the 45th minute when a quick ball out of defence found Mel McBride in space who made no mistake from ten yards. Rearcross were two behind four minutes in to the second half after Joe Shiels drilled past Oliver Kennedy from in front of goal. Rearcross were out of the game after this and were fortunate not to go three goals in arrears when Mel McBride's effort came back off the crossbar on 58 minutes. Derek O'Toole produced a fine run on the left four minutes later, however his left legged strike skewed off the outside of his boot, the visitors never really threatened after this and Blackcastle ran out comfortable winners.
