Ballymackey/Toome 3 - Rearcross 'A' 2

Rearcross 'A' turned in a disappointing performance against Ballymackey/Toome last Sunday in Ballymackey and ended up on the wrong end of 3-2 scoreline as a result. The home side took the lead in the 4th minute when a speculative cross from the left flank by Thomas Sheppard finished in the net, exchanges were evenly shared after this with both sides creating more than their fair share of chances, however Rearcross will be most disappointed not to have made more of chances created. Rearcross also had claims for a penalty turned down when Derek O'Toole seemed to have been bundled off the ball midway throught the half. Rearcross showed more urgency in the second half, however poor finishing ensured the home side stayed in front, Ballymackey/Toome who had been reduced to ten men went two up with fifteen minutes remaining when Robbie O'Neill got on the end of a free kick and headed to the roof of the net. Rearcross went further behind three minutes later when the referee pointed to the spot with Robbie O'Neill grabbing his second with a well finished penalty. Rearcross pulled a goal back in the 82nd minute when Davy O'Toole got through the middle and knocked the ball the net, Rearcross reduced the margin further with four minutes remaining when PJ McLoughlin made space in front of goal and slipped the ball over the line, Rearcross went in search of an equaliser, however the revival was left too late and the home side held on to secure the points.
