Kilcommon 'B' 1 - Rearcross 'B' 7
Rearcross 'B' collected their first league points of the season in Kilcommon last Sunday with an easier than expected victory over Kilcommon 'B', the visitors took the lead after five minutes when Liam Ryan crossed to the far post where Thomas Kennedy was on hand to volley to the net. Rearcross were two in front in the 11th minute after a Kilcommon defender knocked the ball to his own net with Liam Ryan applying the pressure to force the error. Kilcommon came in to the game somewhat after this but failed to penetrate a solid Rearcross rearguard, the visitors finished the half strongly and tacked on goal number three when Val Kennedy found Liam Ryan who advanced and drove past the Kilcommon netminder with two minutes remaining in the half. Rearcross were on top again in the second period and went further ahead on 54 minutes when Thomas Kennedy's corner kick swung with deception under the cross bar. Liam Nolan(B) got in on the act with fifteen minutes remaining when he took up the running from midfield, advanced and placed the ball beyond the reach of the Kilcommon custodian. Nigel Ryan got his name on the scoresheet minutes later after he ran on to a long clearance out of Rearcross territory and slid the ball between the posts. David Gilmartin grabbed a consolation goal for his side with minutes remaining, and then Thomas Kennedy finished on a high with a left legged effort to round off his and the Clubs first hat-trick of the season.
