Rearcross travelled to Vee Rovers last Sunday for this 2nd round FAI Junior Cup game and came away with a win following a dramatic penalty shoot out after the sides were still scoreless following extra time. The blustery conditions had a negating effect on the game with goal scoring chances few and far between as both set's of defences controlled affairs, Thomas Kennedy did well to make space midway through the first half and got in a shot which pulled to the right of upright. Vee Rovers threatened in the 38th minute when successive blocks on the line saw the ball cleared to safety. Rearcross playing with wind advantage in the second half battled gallantly against a Vee Rovers side who defended in depth, Thomas Kennedy came closest midway through the half when his left legged effort forced a stretched save out of the Vee Rovers keeper, extra time failed to produce a winner, although PJ McLoughlin had the ball in the Clogheen side's net in the first period of extra time after latching on to a Liam O'Toole cross from the right, however play was called back for an off side infringement, Rearcross emerged from the penalty shoot out on a 4-3 score line, Diarmuid Sheehy, Liam O'Toole, PJ McLoughlin & Ger Kennedy were on target for Rearcross while the marksmen for Vee Rovers were Paul Frazer, Warren O'Brien & Brian Ward
