Rearcross 'B' 2 - Templetouhy 'B' 5
Templetouhy were the visitors to Rearcross F.C. Grounds last
Wednesday evening for this Shield Quarter Final, however the visit was to
prove costly for the green & whites as a lively Templetouhy side ran out
victors on a 5-2 score line, Rearcross made a promising start and were a goal
to the good after three minutes when the ball was passed to Nigel Ryan following
a fast break from midfield, who released Thomas Kennedy, the resulting shot
was struck with gusto as the ball finished in the corner of the net. The visitors
levelled in the 18th minute when a corner kick was headed to the net, Templetouhy
took the lead ten minutes after the restart with a well worked goal, Nigel
Ryan equalised minutes later with a strike from inside the box. Rearcross
were on top at this stage and will rue missed opportunities following a succession
of corner kicks and free kicks, and then paid the price in the 67th minute
with the concession of a goal following inept defending, Rearcross lost their
shape after this and Templetouhy tacked on two futher goals to run out comfortable
winners, best for Rearcross on the day were Val Kennedy, Denis Kennedy and
Paul Murphy, youngster Jim Caplis and former Kennedy Cup panellist made a
fine North Tipperary & District League debut in goal for Rearcross.
