Clodiagh Rangers 'A' 3 - Rearcross 'A' 3

Rearcross 'A' had to come from a 3-1 deficit to earn a share of the spoils from this league encounter against Clodiagh Rangers 'A' played in Drombane last Sunday afternoon, Rearcross playing against a strong breeze in the first half soaked a lot of early pressure from the home side, Rearcross got to grips after this early onslaught and came close when a good move on the right flank produced a cross which was met by Matthew Ryan Luke, however the headed effort was over the top, Clodiagh took a fortunate lead in the 30th minute when the ball was crossed from the right wing, the ball was flicked on to the head of the in-running Eamon Cullagh and the ball ended up in the net, Rearcross went further behind five minutes later when loose defending allowed Diarmuid Delahunty get a shot on goal which finished in the far corner, Rearcross made a good recovery after this and were back in the game in the 39th minute when Sean Ryan broke on the right only to taken down inside the penalty area, John Ryan Luke stepped up and rifled the resulting spot kick past the Clodiagh custodian, Clodiagh finished the half strongly after this and restored their advantage on 43 minutes when Declan Carr headed a corner kick under the crossbar. Rearcross made a blitzkrieg start to the second half and came close in the opening minutes with effort from Sean Ryan, the margin was reduced four minutes in to the half with an own goal after a Clodiagh defender headed a corner kick to his own net, Rearcross continued to push forward and grabbed an equaliser three minutes later when a good passing movement started by left full Mark Lenihan found Liam O'Toole in space on the edge of the eighteen yard box, the shot was clinical as the ball finished just inside the far upright, Rearcross had their opponents rattled at this stage and another goal would surely have sent Rearcross on the road to victory, however the score didn't come and Clodiagh clawed their way back in to the game as the half progressed, both sides had their chances to steal the victory towards the end with PJ McLoughlin unlucky for the visitors with an effort from in front of goal in the dying minutes.
