Rearcross 'A' 2 - Cormacstown 'A' 1
Rearcross 'A' hosted Cormacstown 'A' in this Premier Division Shield Quarter Final played in Rearcross last Wednesday evening and came out on top with a 2-1 win to record a first victory over the Thurles side, Cormacstown were full of running in the opening period as Rearcross were slow to settle and were squandering possession at will, the visitors had a shot in target in the 12th minute which was knocked out to safety, minutes later Robert Jordan turned inside his marker, however the ball skewed as the shot was struck, the home side got to grips as the half progressed and took a dramatic lead in the 25th minute, when good interplay in the middle of the field saw Matthew Ryan Luke get behind the visiting defence who in turn let fly with a twenty yard pile driver that whizzed past the Cormacstown keeper, Robert Jordan then went close for Cormacstown with strike from a set piece. Liam O'Toole was unlucky not to add to the Rearcross tally shortly before the half time whistle with a fine effort the struck the underside of the crossbar. Rearcross showed greater hunger at the start of the second half and were rewarded nine minutes in when Derek O'Toole burst through on the left and blasted to the net from the corner of the eighteen yard box, Rearcross had their chances to add to the score line, however Cormacstown weren't going out without a battle and were back in the game in the 74th minute when the ball was swung across the area to Tadgh Burke who drilled to the back of the net, it was tit for tat for the remainder of the game, Rearcross were fortunate with two minutes remaining when a free kick on the edge of the eighteen yard box was tapped to Robert Jordan who's floated effort came back off the crossbar, the ball was eventually cleared to safety and Rearcross hung on to make it through to a semi-final meeting with Blackcastle 'A'
