Blackcastle 'A' were the opponents in this league fixture played in Rearcross last Sunday morning with Rearcross 'A' taking the points on a three nil scoreline, Blackcastle won the toss and opted to play with wind advantage putting the home side on the back foot in the early stages, Mel McBride raced through in the 10th minute and struck from just inside the box, however the effort was over the top. The visitors were denied in the 16th minute when a shot from a free kick was deflected against the crossbar, Rearcross took full advantage of this let off as Sean Ryan got on the end of a through ball in the 21st minute, the finish was precise as the ball sailed to the top corner. Rearcross were well in control at the start of the second half and made it two nil in the 59th minute when Joey Nolan sent the ball along the end line to Derek O'Toole who turned and finished to the corner of the net from the tightest of angles. Blackcastle battled to get back in to the game, however it was Rearcross who got some breathing space in the 71st minute when Joey Nolan advanced down the right flank, the resulting cross was controlled and dispatched with aplomb by Derek O'Toole. Rearcross had to maintain their alertness for the remainder of the game to keep the Templemore side at bay.
