Borroway
Rovers 3 - Rearcross 'B' 3
Rearcross 'B' travelled to Thurles last Sunday for this debut
league fixture in the NT&DL Second Division and earned a divide of the
spoils despite being without a number of regulars, the home side settled faster
as Reacross were slow to get to the pace of the game, Davy Ryan Luke had two
early efforts on the Borroway goal, however it was Thurles side who opened
the scoring with a neat finish at the back post on the thirty minute mark,
the Rearcross reaction was swift and were back on par a minute later when
a splendily delivered corner kick from Thomas Kennedy was finished to the
net by Anthony Ryan. Borroway were back in front five minutes later when a
well taken goal and were denied a third minutes later with a magnificant penalty
save from young custodian Jim Caplis.
Rearcross threw everything at Borroway at the start of the second half but
were caught on the 70th minute mark with the concession of a third goal, Rearcross
rallied after this and were thrown a lifeline minutes later when Adrian Hurley
was upended in the box, Anthnony Ryan converted the resulting penalty with
aplomb, Rearcross went all out for the eqauliser which came on the stroke
of full time when Damien Mullins finished from close range after a flick on
