Arra Rovers 2 - Rearcross 'A' 2

Rearcross 'A' travelled to Portroe last Sunday for a league fixture against Arra Rovers and had to be content with a share of the spoils after a tough encounter against the home side, Rearcross did the early attacking and back header from Emmet Steed in the 6th minute wasn't far away, Nigel Ryan got through on the right five minutes later with the Arra keeper getting down to block out at the expense of a corner, Paul Murphy was in the action for Rearcross on the 20th minute mark and was unlucky with a well struck effort. Rearcross took a deserved lead on 26 minutes when John Ryan Luke's effort from in front of goal forced a good save out of the home side's custodian, the follow up play saw Paul Murphy swing the ball in to the danger area where Emmet Steed made no mistake with a headed goal from close range. Rearcross were fortunate late in the half when a poorly defended corner whizzed across the danger area. Rearcross made a bright start to the half and came close with efforts from Derek O'Toole and John Ryan Luke, Rearcross were denied with thirteen minutes gone in the half when Paul Murphy's lobbed effort looked to be on it's way, however Darren Gleeson did well to touch on to the upright to keep the score line intact, the home side levelled with 16 minutes remaining when Pat Power converted from the penalty spot following a handball infringement, Rearcross made amends six minutes later when Nigel Ryan raced through and somehow managed to evade defenders and goalkeeper before rifling to an empty net, Rearcross failed to capitalise and were misfortunate to concede a second equaliser in the 83rd minute when the ball was poked to the net by John Hogan from just outside the six yard box, Rearcross pushed forward and were robbed of a late winner when the ball bobbled from Nigel Ryan in front of goal on a day when Rearcross were unlucky not to take full points from the encounter.
