Rearcross F.C. Rearcross 'A' finished level on a three all score line with Newtown Celtic in this league fixture played in Rearcross last Sunday morning, the damp conditions detracted somewhat from this game, however it was the visitors who made the first incision with a sweetly struck free kick from the boot of Colm O'Brien that finished in top corner of the net, Rearcross reacted five minutes later when good work from John Ryan Luke found Derek O'Toole in space who converted from close range, Rearcross had the better of exchanges after this and came close with efforts from Jamie Ryan and Derek O'Toole. Newtown were dominant at the start of the second half and it took a double save from Oliver Kennedy to keep the visitors at bay, Rearcross came more in to the game as the half progressed were unluckly not to go in front when Jamie Ryan broke on the left only to see his well struck effort rebound off the woodwork, Nigel Ryan gave Rearcross a deserved lead in the 59th minute with an effort from the edge of the box, Rearcross were flying at this stage and went 3-1 in front in the 72nd minute when Nigel Ryan delivered an inch perfect cross from out on the right, PJ McLoughlin had read the situation and headed to the net from inside the six yard box, Rearcross might had gone 4-1 ahead minutes later when Derek O'Toole looked to have done enough, however Newtown's Kieran Hogan somehow managed to get back to make the goal line clearance, a disastrous final ten minutes saw Newtown grab two fortuitous goals, the first coming on 80 minutes following the concession of a needless free kick in the middle of the field with the follow up resulting in the ball being knocked to the net by a Rearcross defender, then with a minute to go the referee pointed to the spot for an alleged handball infringement, the resulting spot kick was drilled to the net by Colm O'Brien to deny the home side maximum points from the encounter.
