Rearcross 'B' 6 - Holycross 'B' 3
Rearcross 'B' collected their first league win of the season with
a spirited 6-3 home victory against Holycross in a game that was a lot tougher
than the score line suggests, the visitors applied all the early pressure,
however Rearcross weathered the storm and went in at half time with a two
goal advantage following strikes from Liam Ryan and Paul Hogan. Rearcross
raced in to a three nil early in the second half when Liam Ryan scored his
second of the day, Holycross pulled a goal back minutes later with a goal
following a crossfield free kick, Simon Kennedy then restored the three goal
cushion for Rearcross after some fine footwork. The visitors reduced the deficit
to a minimum midway through the half with two successive goals, the first
coming courtesy of an own goal and then a conversion from the penalty spot
to leave the tie on a knife edge score line of four goals to three, however
it was home side that prevailed on the day as Paul Hogan added his second
to cap off a fine individual performance, Paul Murphy put the issued beyond
doubt with a late strike to seal a merited win for Rearcross 'B'.
