Rearcross 'A' 0 - Arra Rovers 0

Rearcross 'A' played out a scoreless draw against Arra Rovers in this bottom of the table encounter played in Rearcross last Sunday afternoon, Rearcross enjoyed the better of the exchanges in the opening half despite some early dominance from the visitors, Sean Mullins got a vital headed touch out of the danger area with seven minutes gone when Arra were in full flight, Rearcross started to dominate as the half progressed and a darting run from Davy O'Toole through the middle in the 29th minute looked promising, however the visiting defence closed in to smother the threat. John Ryan Luke made a well timed tackle a minute later when Arra broke on a counter attack. Emmet Steed's powerful free kick form outside the box with thirteen minutes remaining in the half was over the top. Rearcross continued to apply the pressure and Matthew Ryan Luke headed across the visitors goalmouth two minutes later, however the ball didn't fall too kindly to Davy O'Toole who had taken up a good scoring position. Emmet Steed hit a well struck free kick that was just left of the upright with three minutes to go in the half. The visitors had claims for a penalty turned down minutes in to the second half, Davy O'Toole then did well to set up Matthew Ryan Luke whose shot was gathered by the Portroe custodian. Arra Rovers were starting to get the upper hand and David Gleeson was unlucky to see his effort go inches wide of the left upright in the 70th minute, John Ryan got in a shot which was on target minutes later, however Sean Sheehy was nicely positioned to save. Paul Murphy who played well throughout put in a crucial tackle minutes later, Rearcross breathed a sigh of relief with thirteen minutes remaining in the tie when Anthony Kennedy's well stuck shot was goal bound, however Sean Sheehy was equal to the effort and plucked the ball from under the crossbar. Rearcross were defending in numbers at this stage and Sean Mullins leaped highest to head clear from a corner kick with seven minutes remaining, Rearcross made a late rally and Emmet Steed was robbed with five minutes remaining with a left legged pile driver that was barely over and then play was called back for an offside infringement with a minute to go when Emmet Steed was through on goal, however it was not to be on the day as the sides finished scoreless.
