Nenagh Celtic 'A' 3 - Rearcross 'A' 0

Rearcross 'A' travelled to the Nenagh venue last Sunday for a league game against Premier Division league leaders Nenagh Celtic and came away empty handed after losing on a three nil score line, Rearcross will rue not getting on the score sheet in an opening half where the visitors enjoyed more than their fair share of possession, Rearcross made the first incision two minutes in when Diarmuid Sheehy linked up with Emmet Steed on the left with Damien Mullins unlucky at the back post, Shane Reynolds swung the ball in to Davy O'Toole in the 6th minute with Sean Mullins getting on the end of the delivery, however the home side managed to cleared their lines. Rearcross continued to attack but were failing to breakdown a resilient Nenagh Celtic rearguard, the home side edged ahead somewhat against the run of play in the 16th minute when Padraig O'Meara was taken down in the box with Neil O'Donnell making no mistake from the penalty spot. Sean Sheehy came to the rescue for Rearcross midway through the half when he reacted to push a Jimmy Hynes effort around the post. Simon Kennedy did well to get on the end of Davy O'Toole's corner kick with twelve minutes remaining in the half, however the effort was saved at the near post. Rearcross were denied an equaliser in the 40th minute when Emmet Steed's penalty kick skimmed the outside of the upright, Nenagh Celtic went two nil ahead just on the stroke of half time when Rearcross were slow to react to a long delivery from a free kick with Padraig O'Meara getting the headed touch that mattered. Nenagh Celtic dominated affairs in the second half and it took some fine goalkeeping from Sean Sheehy to keep the league leaders at bay, the first save coming five minutes with a body block when Celtic were clean through, Rearcross battled to get back in to the game, but were struggling to create anything worthwhile in front of goal, Sean Sheehy did well again in the 60th minute when he closed the angle as Jimmy Hynes raced through before making a fine save in the 60th minute. Sean Mullins released Davy O'Toole two minutes later, however Nenagh Celtic's Stevie Ryan closed in to avert the danger. Damien Mullins fired in a shot in the 72nd minute with the Celtic keeper nicely positioned to gather. Rearcross went further in arrears with sixteen minutes remaining when Jimmy Hynes broke down the middle before rifling to the corner of the net from just inside the eighteen yard box, Sean Sheehy was again in the action on 81 minutes with a save from the boot of Stevie Ryan, Rearcross were then denied what would have been a consolation goal in the 89th minute when Simon Kennedy's penalty kick struck the underside of the crossbar to round off a luckless trip to Nenagh on this occasion.
