An under strength Rearcross 'A' made their exit from the Tipperary
Cup in Borrisoleigh last Sunday afternoon on a 6-1 score line, the First Division
Champions signalled their intent early on and went ahead in the 4th minute
with a converted penalty from Paul Mason, Rearcross levelled five minutes
later when Shane Reynolds passed to Diarmuid Sheehy who rifled to back of
the net from the edge of the eighteen yard box, Rearcross were on the back
foot after this and Sean Sheehy was forced to save on the 16th minute mark.
The crossbar saved the visitors midway through the half when the ball rebounded
back in to play before being cleared to safety. Borrisoleigh went 2-1 ahead
in the 26th minute when slack marking from a throw ball allowed Patrick Stapleton
to blast to the roof of the net, Sean Sheehy came to the rescue again with
fourteen minutes remaining with a fine save, however there was little the
Rearcross custodian could do as the home side were let in for two goals in
a two minute spell just before the half time whistle when Noel Kent and Patrick
Stapleton hitting the target. Borrisoleigh scored again two minutes after
the re-start when Patrick Stapleton rounded off his hat trick from close range,
Jody Harkin got on the score sheet in the 70th minute with a long range effort.
