Rearcross
win 5-4 on penalties
Rearcross 'B' opened their new campaign with a preliminary round
game of the First Division Shield against Ballymackey played at the home venue
last Wednesday evening, a new look Rearcross 'B' gave as good as they got
in the opening half coming close with efforts from Thomas Kennedy and John
Ryan Luke. Rearcross were on top at the start of the second half and were
robbed midway through the half when Martin McLoughlin's well struck thirty
yard effort thumped off the crossbar with Paul Hogan unlucky not to head the
robound to the net. Boths sets of defences played well throughout and no more
so in the final ten minutes as both teams pushed hard for that elusive goal
that didn't materialise, so the outcome had to be decided on a penalty shootout,
Rearcross proved the more clinical on this occasion netting their five penalies
to win out on a 5-4 score line, the marksmen for Rearcross were Martin McLoughlin,
John Ryan Luke, Paul Hogan, Thomas Kennedy and Colin O'Doherty while the marksmen
for Ballymackey were David Rooney, Rory Mounsey, Brian Feeeman and Barry McNulty,

O'Doherty
