Ballinahinch
win 3 - 0 on penalties
Rearcross 'B' made their exit from the First Division Shield
last Saturday following a penalty shoot out against neighbours Ballinahinch,
the home team fielded without a number of regulars against a visiting team
who were also not ar full strength, nevertheless an entertaining game of football
resulted with goalscoring chances falling to both sides, Rearcross came closest
in the opening half with good efforts from Kevin Mullins, Joey Nolan and Colin
O'Doherty. The best chances of the game fell to both sides in the final ten
minutes, however strong defending coupled with poor finishing saw the game
finishing scoreless and the home side facing their second penalty shoot-out
inside a four day period, however on this occasion lady luck was not with
Rearcross as the First Division debutants missed their first three penalties
handing the initiative to Ballinahinch who had their marksmen in Tommy Kelly,
Marcus Ryan and Michael Fitzgerald. Rearcross had good performances from Kevin
Mullins, Colin O'Doherty and Martin McLoughlin, best of luck to Ballinahinch
in the semi-final.
