Rearcross 'A' 1 - Borrisoleigh 5

Rearcross 'A' put up a tame resistance against Premiership debutants Borrisoleigh in this Shield semi-final fixture played in Rearcross last Sunday morning, the visitors made the first incision two minutes in and won a free on the edge of the area which sailed wide of the target, Rearcross counter attacked and Davy O'Toole struck just wide, Davy O'Toole was back in the thick of the action in the 5th minute and gave Rearcross the lead with a well taken goal. Borrisoleigh were back on level terms in the 18th minute when a well taken free kick from Noel Kent the flew to the top corner of the net. Noel Kent was to prove to be handful for the home side and went on to add three more to his tally for the day with his second goal coming five minutes later with a copy exact strick from a free kick. Rearcross came close a minute later with a free kick effort from a Liam Ryan free kick. Borrisoeigh made it 3-1 shortly after the restart with a headed effort from Shane Stapleton when the ball rebounded off the crossbar. The visitors extended their lead on 55 minutes when Noel Kent headed home from close range. Rearcross had more than their fair share of chances to narrow the deficit, however the difference on the day was the clinical finishing of a Borrisoleigh who had a star performance from Noel Kent who added his fourth of the day in the 89th minute with a smashing strike from twenty five yards, best of luck to Borrisoleigh in the Final.
