Rearcross 'A' collected maximum league points from this league encounter played against Newtown Celtic in Rearcross last Sunday, Rearcross made most of the running in the opening half, Liam Nolan crossed to Davy O'Toole six minutes in with the headed effort not far off, Paddy Ryan Luke fired on target minutes later however the visiting custodian who impressed in the opening half gathered cleanly, a Nigel Ryan effort following a free kick wasn't far away midway through the half. It was all Rearcross at this stage, Davy O'Toole found PJ McLoughlin with the resulting headed flick barely skimming the wrong side of the cross bar. Rearcross took a rather fortuitous lead two minutes before the half when Davy O'Toole's corner deceived the Newtown rearguard as the ball squirmed to the net. Rearcross raced in to a two nil lead nine minutes in to the second half when Nigel Ryan passed to Paddy Ryan Luke who rifled to the net from in front of goal. Newtown pulled a goal back minutes later when Kieran Hogan pounced following slack defending from Rearcross. Jim Caplis came to the rescue for Rearcross with a fine block two minutes later. Rearcross increased their tally in the 74th minute when Paddy Ryan Luke drove to the net from the edge of the box after good work by Nigel Ryan. Rearcross were further ahead a minute later when Liam Nolan went in on the left before getting a vital touch to slip the ball past an advancing keeper. Nigel Ryan made if 5-1 on 88 minutes when he rammed to the net from close range. Newtown kept plugging and pulled a goal back through Kieran Hogan in the 83rd minute following complacency from Rearcross at the back. Rearcross finished on a high and Paddy Ryan Luke capped off his hat trick with a minute to go with a tap in from close range after Nigel Ryan delivered from the out on the right to copper fasten the win for the home side.
