Rearcross
Youths 3 - Borrisoleigh 5
Rearcross Youths were at home to league leaders Borrisoleigh
last Saturday and were somewhat unlucky to finish second best on a 5-3 score
line, Ciaran Cowan gave Borrisoleigh the lead with a headed effort from a
free kick ten minutes in, Rearcross recovered well and equalised five minutes
later when Thomas Grace drove his seventh of the season to the back of the
net from free kick. Rearcross went ahead shortly before the break when Michael
O'Gorman took full advantage before slotting between the posts. Rearcross
were luckless in the second half and conceded an own goal minutes after the
restart to let the visitors back in to the game. Borrisoleigh regained the
lead midway through the second half when Cian O'Mahoney got on the end of
delivery from the right before side footing to the corner of the net. Gearoid
Kent increased the Borrisoleigh advantage seven minutes later with a well
struck effort from in front of goals, Paul Maher extended the lead in the
78th minute with a goal from out on the left. Reacross came back at Borrisoleigh
and were unlucky in the end not to draw level, Thomas Grace's well free kick
struck the woodwork in the 81st minute and then successive corners from Rearcross
were cleared to safety before Paul Hogan pounced for a late goal with a well
struck shot following a Seamus Feehan lay off.
