Thurles Town 0 - Rearcross 'A' 4

Rearcross 'A' were the visitors to Thurles Greyhound Stadium last Sunday morning for this Munster Junior Cup tie against Thurles Town and came away with a four nil victory, Rearcross were slow to settle and failed to create any useful chances early on against a home side who showed strongly from the start, Nigel Ryan forced a save out of the Thurles custodian in the nineteenth minute, Liam Ryan then struck a shot over the Thurles crossbar two minutes later. Thurles also had their moments and came close from a corner kick. Diarmuid Sheehy advanced deep in to Thurles territory on 25 minutes and slipped the ball through to Paddy Ryan Luke who shot left of the upright. Paddy Ryan Luke was the provider with ten minutes remaining in the half after setting up Liam Ryan who struck over the bar. Thurles might have snatched the lead a minute before the break with a well struck shot the was goal bound, however PJ McLoughlin intervened with a headed flick and deflected the ball out for a corner kick. Rearcross upped the ante at the start of the second half, Kevin Mullins broke down the right flank and unleashed a powerful shot two minutes in which finished in the side netting. The visitors took the lead in the 57th minute when a cross field run by Davy O'Toole saw the ball finish in the net with the help of a deflection. Rearcross went two nil ahead midway through the half when Liam Ryan made space in the centre before rifling to the corner of the net. Nigel Ryan made it three nil five minutes later when he side footed between the posts from in front of goal. Thurles Town kept battling and Sean Sheehy was forced to make a superb reflex save with fifteen minutes remaining. Rearcross put the issue beyond doubt in the 85th minute when a Kevin Mullins free kick broke to Sean Mullins who scored a spectacular goal with an overhead bicycle kick.
