Rearcross 'A' were at home to Borrisoleigh last Sunday morning had recorded
a third successive draw on a one all score line, Rearcross made a lively start
and created the first opening in the 3rd minute when Derek O'Toole's effort
was over the top. Borrisoleigh counter attacked and were one nil up when Philip
Rabbitte waltzed through the centre before chipped to back of the net. A Simon
Kennedy tackle averted the danger for Rearcross midway through the half. Rearcross
were winning more than their fair share of possession, Emmet Steed advanced
on the right and let fly from a tight angle with the ball pulling inches wide
of the upright. Borrisoleigh defended stoutly towards the end of the half
to keep the home side scoreless. Rearcross got the perfect start when Nigel
Ryan's delivery from out on the right broke to Sean Mullins who knocked to
the net from close range a minute after the restart, Sean Sheehy was able
to get behind a will struck shot from Borrisoleigh's Jody Harkin on 55 minutes,
Rearcross pushed hard for the winner with Emmet Steed, Nigel Ryan and Liam
Ryan having good efforts, however time ran out for Rearcross as the referee
blew the final whistle to signal the end.
