Rearcross 'B' progressed in this tournament game against neighbours Newport Town AFC 'B' following a penalty shootout, a youthful Rearcross team got in to their stride early on and created their fair share of opportunities with James Gough and Michael O'Gorman doing well, however the sides were still scoreless at the break. Rearcross broke the deadlock ten minutes in to the second half when the ball finished in the net following a corner kick with James Gough scrambling the ball home following great support play from Derek Kennedy. Newport made a strong finish and Dean Lenihan popped up to snatch a late equaliser, the outcome was decided following a penalty shoot out where the host team got through on a 5-4 score line, Adrian Hurley, John Ryan Luke, Tommy Ryan Luke, Robert Harrington and Paul Hogan were the target men for Rearcross while Dean Lenihan, Barry Doyle, Mark Barry and Kevin O'Brien replied for Newport.
