Rearcross 'B' were the visitors to Holycross for this Shield semi-final tie against Holycross and made it through to the final following a penalty shoot out, Rearcross dominated the early passages of play, however Holycross edged their way in to the game as the half progressed and came close from a corner kick with Rearcross custodian Jim Caplis doing well to avert the danger. Rearcross went ahead in the 38th minute when Tommy Ryan Luke(S) turned his opposing defender and finished to the net. The home side were turning in a dogged display and equalized minutes later when Paul Fogarty got on the score sheet. Rearcross applied the pressure at the start of the second half and took a fortuitous lead on 66 minutes when a John Ryan Luke pile driver finished in the net following a deflection. Rearcross were unlucky not to further increase their lead near the end with efforts from Davy Ryan Luke and Michael O'Gorman with the keeper doing well to save Davy Ryan Luke's shot while Michael O'Gorman's drive came back off the post. Holycross grabbed an equaliser deep in to injury time when Philly Cullen bundled the ball over the line in the 95th minute. Rearcross proved the more clinical in the penalty shoot out with Adrian Hurley, Robert Harrington and Liam Ryan converting their efforts while the lone reply for Holycross came from John Carroll.
