Rearcross 'A' 0 - Nenagh Celtic 'A' 3


The game started well with both sides sharing equal possession but few chances being created. The first clear chance came on the 25th minute when Seanie Sheehy was forced to tip the ball over the bar following a Jimmy Hynes effort from 15 yards. Derek O’Toole laid off a ball for Diarmuid Sheehy five minutes later who was unlucky not to find the target from the edge of the area. Nenagh Celtic broke the deadlock on 34 mins when uncertainty in the Rearcross defence allowed Jimmy Hynes to score from close range. Rearcross started the second half well and enjoyed most of the possession. On the 51st minute Declan O’Toole was unlucky when he headed the ball inches wide following a cross from the right hand side, two minutes later Declan O’Toole was again involved when he found Nigel Ryan however his effort rebounded off a Celtic defender to safety. Nenagh Celtic came close to scoring their second goal on 61st minute when a Colm O’Brien free kick found Jimmy Hynes on the edge of the area. His effort went just over the Rearcross keeper’s crossbar. Rearcross had their best chance of scoring in the 65th minute when Derek O’Toole’s header rebounded off the crossbar following Paul Murphy’s corner. Nenagh Celtic picked up the pace in the last twenty minutes of the game and were rewarded with their second goal in the 73rd minute following a well struck effort from Colm O’Brien from ten yards giving Seanie Sheehy no chance. Celtic added a third goal on the 78th minute when Danny Ryan was left with only Seanie Sheehy to beat from close range.
