Rearcross 'A' 2 - Arra Rovers 0

Rearcross 'A' got their league campaign off to a winning start against Arra Rovers last Sunday morning in Rearcross on a two nil score line, the home side made a bright start and Kevin Mullins found Emmet Steed on the ten minute mark with the resulted effort gathered by the keeper, Arra retaliated and Sean Sheehy made a point blank save minutes later. Arra were on top after this and a well timed tackle from Simon Kennedy thwarted certain danger in the 24th minute. Sean Sheehy was called in to action again with 14 minutes remaining with a good block. A looping effort from Anthony Kennedy wasn't far over the Rearcross crossbar three minutes later. Rearcross came more in to the game in the second half and signalled their intent after three minutes of play Declan O'Toole fired on target, however Darren Gleeson in the Arra Rovers managed to parry to safety. Nigel Ryan released Liam Nolan on the left flank on the hour mark with the resulting effort whizzing just outside the upright. Declan O'Toole picked out Nigel Ryan two minutes later, however the shot from an acute angle finished in the Arra side netting. A good effort from Simon Kennedy floated over the bar on the 70 minute mark. James Gough passed to Emmet Steed in the 76th minute, however the Arra keeper produced the save of the game and somehow managed to turn Emmet Steed's shot over the bar, Rearcross were on top at this stage and went ahead in the 81st minute when James Gough swung in the cross from the end line, the ball broke to Derek O'Toole who sent a left legged effort to the back of the net. The home side sealed the points when PJ McLoughlin got on the end of Simon Kennedy's delivery before knocking to the net from closer range.
