Latteragh Celtic 1 - Rearcross 'B' 0
Rearcross 'B' were brought back down to
earth following the highs of the Shield Final victory with a below par performance
that resulted in a one nil away defeat to Latteragh Celtic, the visitors missing
a number of regulars started slow and allowed too much space to a lively Latteragh
Celtic who went ahead on the twenty five minute mark when JJ Fahy scored with
a well taken shot. Rearcross lifted their game after this and were robbed when
Colin O'Doherty's spectacular overhead kick came off the post. Rearcross were
on the backfoot at the start of the second half with the Rearcross defence under
constant pressure, however the score line remained intact. Rearcross were denied
an equaliser in the 76th minute when Joey Nolan's well taken corner was met by
Martin McLoughlin with a fine header, however the Latteragh Celtic custodian made
an outstanding save. Rearcross threw everything bar the proverbial kitchen sink
at a stubborn Latteragh Celtic in the remaining minutes but failed the get the
breakthrough their efforts deserved and in the end were fortunate not to concede
a second when the ball from back off the crossbar.
