Borrisokane 3 - Rearcross 'B' 0
Rearcross 'B' visited Borrisokane last Sunday
afternoon and came home empty handed on the wrong end of a three nil scoreline.
Rearcross started poorly and were duly punished five minutes in when Borrisokane
breezed through the Rearcross defence leaving Jim Caplis with little chance from
a David Kennedy effort. Rearcross were dealt a further blow ten minutes later
when Robert Harrington was forced off through injury. Rearcross improved as the
half wore on and started to put some passages of play together and were unlucky
not to draw level when a Liam Ryan effort just drifted to the wrong side of the
post ten minutes before half time. Rearcross continued to push hard for the equaliser
in to second half, but the home side always looked the more dangerous side and
Jim Caplis was forced to make a number of fine saves in order to keep his side
in the game. Borrisokane, however were not to be denied and they extended their
lead from the penalty spot through John Gleesson with fifteen minutes remaining.
Rearcross pressed on once more but the points were sealed when Borrisokane caught
Rearcross on the break as Philip Austin netted a third for the winners.
