Rearcross 'B' 4 - Latteragh Celtic 1

Rearcross 'B' recorded their second win in a row with a 4-1 home victory over Latteragh Celtic last Sunday afternoon. Rearcross made the better start and dominated the game from early on. Their first clear cut chance came after 15 minutes when a dangerous cross from the right wing found an unmarked Matthew Ryan Luke, however his shot from 12 yards out was straight at the Latteragh keeper. The ball eventually made its way back to Sean Kennedy and his shot from the edge of the area rattled the crossbar and the rebound was cleared to safety. This respite was short lived for the visitors and they conceded the opening goal 5 minutes later when Liam Ryan beat his marker and his shot from 30 yards whistled into the bottom corner of the net. Liam grabbed his second goal of the game 7 minutes later when Joey Nolan put the defence under pressure and forced a poor clearance which fell to Liam and he made no mistake from 12 yards out. Rearcross seemed to take the foot off the gas after this and the visitors had their best spell of the match. This pressure was duly rewarded when the home defence failed to clear their lines and the were punished when a shot from inside the penalty area nestled in the corner of the net.
The second half was keenly contested but it was the home side who had all the clear cut chances. And after several good chances went begging they eventually restored their 2 goal lead on 70 minutes when subsitute Nigel Ryan was played in behind the Latteragh defence and he beat the keeper with a well placed shot from inside the penalty area. The game was put beyond doubt 5 minutes later when Damien Mullins robbed the visitors as they tried to play the ball out of defence and he beat the keeper with ease. The visitors almost grabbed a consolation goal with 3 minutes remaining with a well struck shot from 30 yards out, however Ger Kennedy was alert to the danger and made a comfortable save.
