Clodiagh Rangers 'B' 2 - Rearcross 'B' 4

Rearcross B made the trip to Clodiagh Rangers last Sunday afternoon and returned home with all 3 points after a 4-2 victory. The visitors took an immediate lead when a quick thinking Liam Ryan spotted the Clodiagh netminder off his line and his effort from the half way line sailed over the retreating keeper and into the net. Rearcross went 2-0 up after 20 minutes when a well struck Michael O’Gorman found the corner of the net from the corner of the penalty area. The visitors took their foot off the pedal after this and allowed the home side back into the game. They were dually punished when Clodiagh dragged a goal back 10 minutes before the break. Jim Caplis could only parry a shot and it was the Clodiagh attacker who reacted fastest to force the ball home to leave only a goal between the sides at half time.
Rearcross upped their game in the 2nd half however despite the majority of possession they struggled to find the 3rd goal. It eventually came after 20 minutes when Liam Ryan found space in the box and his shot found the corner of the net to restore his sides 2 goal advantage. This lead was halved once more 5 minutes later when Clodiagh found their way through the Rearcross rearguard and a near post shot snuck past Jim Caplis to give Clodiagh a glimmer of hope. A good passing move involving PJ McLoughlin and James Gough saw Liam Ryan get on the end of a dangerous cross. He made no mistake to round off his hat trick and put the result beyond doubt. Rearcross had further chances after this but had to be content with a hard earned 4-2 victory.
