Thurles Celtic 1 - Rearcross 'B' 1

Rearcross B made the trip to Thurles Celtic last Sunday afternoon and came home with a share of the points after a disappointing 1-1 draw. It was played on poor underfoot conditions and neither side dominated what was a scrappy game. Thurles had the first clear cut chance of the game after 15 minutes when Sean Sheehy reacted quickly to push a shot from the edge of the box around the post. Rearcross response to this was to take the lead. A long kick out from Sean Sheehy was played into the path of Liam Ryan and the winger made no mistake to chip the keeper from 20 yards. Rearcross had the better share of the possession for the remainder of the half but failed to make the most of it. They had good chances though Adrian Hurley and Nigel Ryan but failed to add to their lead.
Thurles dominated the 2nd half as they forced their way back into the game and Rearcross were on the back foot throughout. Sean Sheehy had to be sharp to hand a 60th minute shot on to the post and the rebound was cleared to safety. Rearcross countered with their best chance of the half. Liam Ryan was played in behind the defence however his effort was over the bar. They followed this with a Nigel Ryan effort but the Thurles keeper closed the angle and made the save. Thurles put Rearcross under fierce pressure for the remainder of the game and this eventually told in the last minute of the game when a corner kick was deflected into his own net by an unfortunate Rearcross player. The final whistle went moments later to split the points and leave Rearcross heartbroken despite the fact that the draw was probably the fairest result on the day.
