Rearcross Youths 0 - Ardcroney 3

Rearcross Youths played hosts to Ardcroney in this Youths Division Two league game and were on the receiving end of a three nil defeat. The blustery conditions made the going difficult from the kick off, however Rearcross did manage to produce some flowing moves early on and were unlucky not to go ahead on five minutes when Tommy Kennedy swung in the cross from the right to Michael O'Gorman who was unlucky not to find the net. Rearcross were denied for a second time four minutes later when Shane Lenihan's first time effort was over the bar from just inside the eighteen yard box. Ardcroney took the lead midway through the half when Stephen Shoer was on hand to drill to the back of the net from the edge of the area. The torrential rain worsened as the half progressed, however the visitors coped better and went two nil ahead just before half time after Keith Kelly hit the target with a well taken goal. Ardcroney were on top again at the start of the second half and made their dominance count when Stephen Shoer scored his second of the day following a good build up. Rearcross battled hard to get back in to the game and Greg Kennedy had the ball in the Ardcroney net fifteen minutes in, however the effort was disallowed for offside. Ardcroney ran out comfortable winners in the end to secure maximum points on the day. Bobby Carroll turned in a man of the match display between the posts for the home side and was well supported by Mark Hogan and Sean Hickey who both played well throughout.
